Cherish
Every garment by Cunnington & Sanderson is special, with its own unique story to tell. Draped on the body and created by hand, each piece is a wearable work of art.
Caring for your clothes is one of the most powerful acts of slow fashion. The longer a garment is loved and worn, the less impact it has on the environment — reducing waste, conserving resources, and choosing quality over quantity.
To keep your garment looking and feeling its best, always follow the care instructions on the wash label inside your garment — these have been chosen specifically for the fabric and construction of your piece.
Washing
- Wash less. Skip washing after just one wear unless the item is visibly dirty or has an odour.
- Turn inside out. Protect the outer fabric and colours from rubbing and fading.
- Use cold water. Hot water breaks down fibres and fades colours quickly.
- Choose a gentle cycle. Reduce the heavy spinning that puts stress on seams.
- Use a mesh bag. Place delicate items in a zip bag to avoid snags.
Drying & Storing
- Air dry. Hang clothes or lay them flat — heat from a dryer shrinks and damages threads.
- Skip fabric softeners. They coat fibres, trapping dirt and weakening stretch over time.
- Fold heavy knitwear. Never hang sweaters or the shoulders will lose their shape.
- Use good hangers. Wooden or padded hangers preserve the shape of coats and structured pieces.
- Keep away from direct sunlight. Light fades colours even when clothes are stored.
Repair & Maintenance
- Fix small issues quickly. Sew a loose button or a tiny split before it becomes a bigger problem.
