Our Materials by Choice

At Cunnington & Sanderson, every fabric is chosen with intention. We work with natural fibres including linen and wool, organic cotton for our unisex t-shirts and sweatshirts, recycled materials, preloved fabrics, and deadstock — giving existing textiles a second life and keeping them out of landfill.

The majority of our fabrics are sourced locally in Yorkshire or from within the UK. Sourcing locally means shorter supply chains, lower carbon emissions from transportation, support for British textile industries, and greater transparency over how and where our materials are produced.

Zero Waste by Design.

As pioneers in our own techniques and processes, many Cunnington & Sanderson garments are constructed with minimal or zero waste — no cut fabric going to landfill. Innovative and creative pattern cutting is combined with considered construction to create unique sustainable structures, silhouettes, and stories. Waste is not an option; it is thought from the beginning of the garment story.

Environmentally Friendly Pigment Printing.

Where colour is applied to our garments, we use environmentally friendly pigment printing — a low-impact process that uses less water and fewer chemicals than conventional dyeing methods, while producing rich, lasting colour.

Fabric is the foundation of design.

At Cunnington & Sanderson, we drape our designs with fabric in hand, directly upon the body form. The right fabric is imperative to the design itself — its weight, drape, consistency, volume, fold, and the way it falls upon the wearer when worn. Fabric and form are inseparable.
